I have just had a peek at the participants chart and am surprised that so few library staff have completed the 23 things.

Wrap Up of 23 Things

Well for me it was more fun than i expected. No particular lows but there were times when things looked more difficult than they really were, however, the fantastic presenter and mentors made our life a doddle!! Highs....well my Night Club chick avatar loved to dance and we could not stop her cavorting around in her sexy attire. well if you have to go off in a virtual world, live your dreams!!
I am glad i was encouraged to complete the 23 things. I at least I know what is out there and need to have time to consider how some of these new technologies can be used by the Library.
I am not a virtual world person (totally not a fiction person) so struggle with the concepts but accept they possibly have a use.
Thanks to all the staff who made our experiences possible.

Second life was more enjoyable than I had imagined as I do not live in a fiction world. I don't read any fiction. I can possibly see a training role for second life for those that wish to learn via that method. Despite all of that I created an avatar which resembled what i would like to come back as in my second life, if I have a choice! Yeah, a night club tart with an enhanced chest. We got her dancing and could not stop her! Man, did she have the moves!!

We twittered a bit last week. I may have a use for twitter. Just trying to decide how best to use it. Well that's post 9!

Blog 8

Well here we are, blog 8. Only four to go! Eight is my lucky number. I was born on the 8th of August.

Facebook

Well I have joined Facebook but it is not really my thing. I have received requests from unknown people to be their friend and i find that pretty sad that people have to have imaginary friends. My kids have also had requests from people claiming to be long lost school friends and they are not. I see this as an invasion of privacy.

flickr

I need to take some photos for flickr, however, i am not comfortable putting photos on flickr. So the photos i take will have to be very generic and I'm not sure how i will arrange this.

yahoo account

Well I have created a yahoo account and a flickr account but can not load a photo. I do need to take some photos which would help with selecting one!

I am told I need to do 12 blogs. i don't blog ever on a regular basis so to add 12 blogs will be very painful for me. I am happy to report that i am learning stuff with these 23 things but can't get over excited about it when i have such a busy day on the loans desk.

Goals

Well, my goal with 23 things would have to become more familair with these new technologies! The obstacles to achieving this are 1. Interruptions at my desk and 2.Time. I have set aside Friday 2-3 so here's hoping.
Toolbox: 1. Digital camera and access to the internet. 2. Names and phone numbers of helpers = Resources ( mentors in ELS or any other succker standing nearby).
Path to goals: Complete 23 things
Checkin weekly: Fridays and maybe when i get more familiar I can checkin more often.
Learning Contract: Complete and sign learning contract.
